About Rathmullan
Below is an aerial view of Rathmullan showing the pier, marina, 2km of sandy beach, Lough Swilly and the Inishowen Peninsula to the upper right. The Glen Lodge is located 2 miles from the village and one mile from the beautiful Kinnegar Beach. This is an ideal location for unwinding and exploring the many hidden delights of Co. Donegal.
It was from this spot that the last of the great Irish Chieftains left their homeland forever, a pivotal event in Irish history now known as The Flight of the Earls. An Interpretive Centre in the centre of the village explains in a colourful and lively way the story of this great event.
Today Rathmullan is the perfect location to 'get away from it all'. With it's wonderful beach and wooded hillsides you can relax and enjoy the quieter pace of life that is characteristic of the smaller Irish village. If you prefer a more active holiday the village offers, deep-sea angling boats to charter, a new equestrian centre, and the nearby Portsalon Golf Club.
